Crystal Crag Lodge began in 1927 with a few sleeping cabins (no water or electricity). It was founded by Barney Johnson, who was captivated by the beauty and serenity of Lake Mary, along with the tremendous fishing, and it has remained one of the jewels of the Eastern Sierra ever since, growing and improving over nearly 100 years through the stewardship of five families.
In the summer of 2004, Derek Johnson and his family (no relation to Barney) assumed that stewardship from the Stanford family. Derek, his wife Heidi, and his sister CJ are honored to welcome you to this wonderful place with its tremendous beauty and nearly a century of traditions and memories created by thousands of families, many of whom have chosen to return annually each summer, in some cases for many decades!
